As usual, Jigler's Mario 3 boards are executed with finesse. The board stays true to the original world map and offers balance with well-thought-out bonuses to compensate for overall difference in board layout yet keeping the idea consistent. One of the best adaptations of any non-original IP on WarGaer.
As previous reviewers state, this is a board that forces defensive play / turtling. There is no positional advantage so aggressive gameplay is difficult to win with. Simple concept with good execution.
Fantastic - The key to this board is the elimination bonus. If you're playing with a large number of people then usually the first person to eliminate someone can sweep the game. Thoroughly enjoy the board and the unique setting it creates.
Usually a huge fan of Yertle's boards, not a huge fan of this one. The combination of odd bonuses with territory abandon and overreaching boundaries must just be too much of a deviation from standard "Risk" for me to handle. Not sure exactly which part of the board's setup turns me off or if it's just the combination of all of the above.
6/10 for the artistic style and unique concept. And Yertle's awesome.
Well-balanced and quick gameplay (I've never played against a defensive opponent). Rewards strategically aggressive players but punishes blindly aggressive ones. Failed miserably the first time I attempted a defensive position =) Curious to see how it would work as a SimulGear.
I hate this board. It is my least favourite board to play without question. However, I still find myself joining games. Guess it's akin to a gambling addiction!
Perfect rendition of a SimulGear board. Works beautifully for its purpose and allows several different strategies (as Yertle mentioned). I've not had a boring match on this board yet!
